Random stuff - just bored at work.

My honey had a 9:15 hockey game last night so after the gym we had to have a quick, easy dinner since home is an hour drive.  We decided on McDonalds.  I got the Classic Grilled Chicken Sandwich and a side salad with the low fat vinaigrette.  Honey got a Double Cheeseburger Meal.  They have nutritional information on a flyer so I took one to read while eating.  I was reading off numbers of various food items but not telling him what he was eating had.  When I finished he just kept looking at it and finally decided to look to see what he was eating.  He then says “great, now you got me conscience about this sh**.”  I say “Good, and you should be.”   I was very proud of him as he usually gets 2 double cheeseburgers but since he was gonna be playing hockey he needed somthing “light”.  He doesn’t eat salads etc so that is considered light to him.  He even bought 4 cases of water over the weekend so he can try to start drinking more water at work.  I told him how I lost weight just by upping my water intake a couple of years ago.

I need to stay vigilant on everything.  I’ve been slacking since my father passed away in October.  I did however do 40 minutes on my treadmill Saturday instead of cleaning the house so the hous is still a mess but I got 40 minutes in.  Was gonna clean on Sunday but we spent most of the afternoon grocery shopping then the NHL Allstar game was on so had to watch that.  Yesterday I did 30 minutes on the elliptical and 30 on the treadmill at the gym.  I got a new heartrate monitor watch for Xmas and I absolutely love it.  I program it with my birthday, gender and weight.  To finish programming it you take your heart rate when you awake (naturally, not by an alarm) and that sets your resting rate.  When you begin your workout you start the stopwatch and after you get your heartrate up you take a reading.  When you cool down you take another reading.  I take my more than that as I do HIIT so I bring it up and down a lot.  When you take a reading it shows you the percent of max you’re working at and calories burned.  When you finish your workout and stop the stopwatch it will show you total calorie burn.   I say it’s more accurate because it’s based upon how hard you are actually working so it pushes me to work more to get and keep my percent of max up over 65%.

I finished rearranging the bedroom upstairs so I can do my DVDs up there.  I just have to get them all together now.  I also still need to get a step but that’s not a biggie to start my carido kickboxing DVD and my Firm Resistance Band DVD.

Okay, I’ve lost my train of thought.  Something distracted me and I have no idea what so I will end this now.  Take care anyone who has suffered through this and have a great week.

A Few Thoughts

Had a nice weekend, got to go see my beloved Buffalo Sabres in their last pre-season game.  Honey and I are hoping somebody he works with has some season tickets they can’t use otherwise that may be our one and only game.  Just about every game is sold out, with the exception of single seats and a few of the higher priced games we can’t afford to go to, which of course is when they play the Toronto Maple Leafs. Those are ususally really good games.  If anyone remembers last season with their game against the Ottawa Senators when Chris Drury was hit in the face and the BIG BRAWL ensued at the next face off I WAS THERE!! Man was that sweet.  We were up the upper level (way up) and probably that was the best place to be since everyone was on their feet for at least 20 mintues cheering.  Yeah, I’ll admit I watch hockey for the fighting.  But more than that too.  I was raised watching hockey because my fan was the big fan.  Since we won’t get many, if any, hockey games we are going to try to get season tickets to the Buffalo Bandits (indoor lacrosse) they are quite good too and they’re fans are something else, it’s an experience going to one of their games.

Okay, so I buy alfalfa sprouts to put on my turkey sandwich to “volumectrize” it.  If you’ve read Volumetrics you know what I’m talking about.  The package says it’s 1 serving.  No, I don’t think so.  That’s a lot of sprouts, I think I took maybe 1/4 of the package.  Not sure if I really liked it but it was different than a plain turkey sandwich.  Something I’ll have to get used to.  Maybe I’ll buy some whole wheat pita and try my sandwich that way.

DelMonte Fruit Naturals - has anyone had these?  The local grocery store has them on sale so I look at the container and see 70 calories.  Seeing as they were in a little cup with a peel off top I just assume (never assume anything) that it’s one serving.  WRONG!  It’s actually 2 servings at 70 calories a serving.  Okay, I need my fruit so I have the whole thin with my lunch.  But now that I know it’s 2 servings I can split it up at home.  But that’s okay cuz now instead of  having them for 10 lunches I get 20 lunches, YES!!  Good thing is even if I have a homemade meatball sub for dinner I still come in pretty well under my upper calorie limit, provided I have a relatively light snack after dinner.

Our Monthly Weigh In - Honey and I have decided to have a weigh on the 1st of every month but I think I need to change it to the first Monday of every month because if the 1st falls on a Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday it will mess up having it consistently in the evening after we get home from the gym.  Wednesdays and Fridays are bowling nights so we’re not home until 11 or after and Saturday and Sundays we don’t go the gym.

Okay, lunch is over, have to get back to work.

To Be Cont…..
