A Few Thoughts
Had a nice weekend, got to go see my beloved Buffalo Sabres in their last pre-season game. Honey and I are hoping somebody he works with has some season tickets they can’t use otherwise that may be our one and only game. Just about every game is sold out, with the exception of single seats and a few of the higher priced games we can’t afford to go to, which of course is when they play the Toronto Maple Leafs. Those are ususally really good games. If anyone remembers last season with their game against the Ottawa Senators when Chris Drury was hit in the face and the BIG BRAWL ensued at the next face off I WAS THERE!! Man was that sweet. We were up the upper level (way up) and probably that was the best place to be since everyone was on their feet for at least 20 mintues cheering. Yeah, I’ll admit I watch hockey for the fighting. But more than that too. I was raised watching hockey because my fan was the big fan. Since we won’t get many, if any, hockey games we are going to try to get season tickets to the Buffalo Bandits (indoor lacrosse) they are quite good too and they’re fans are something else, it’s an experience going to one of their games.
Okay, so I buy alfalfa sprouts to put on my turkey sandwich to “volumectrize” it. If you’ve read Volumetrics you know what I’m talking about. The package says it’s 1 serving. No, I don’t think so. That’s a lot of sprouts, I think I took maybe 1/4 of the package. Not sure if I really liked it but it was different than a plain turkey sandwich. Something I’ll have to get used to. Maybe I’ll buy some whole wheat pita and try my sandwich that way.
DelMonte Fruit Naturals - has anyone had these? The local grocery store has them on sale so I look at the container and see 70 calories. Seeing as they were in a little cup with a peel off top I just assume (never assume anything) that it’s one serving. WRONG! It’s actually 2 servings at 70 calories a serving. Okay, I need my fruit so I have the whole thin with my lunch. But now that I know it’s 2 servings I can split it up at home. But that’s okay cuz now instead of having them for 10 lunches I get 20 lunches, YES!! Good thing is even if I have a homemade meatball sub for dinner I still come in pretty well under my upper calorie limit, provided I have a relatively light snack after dinner.
Our Monthly Weigh In - Honey and I have decided to have a weigh on the 1st of every month but I think I need to change it to the first Monday of every month because if the 1st falls on a Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday it will mess up having it consistently in the evening after we get home from the gym. Wednesdays and Fridays are bowling nights so we’re not home until 11 or after and Saturday and Sundays we don’t go the gym.
Okay, lunch is over, have to get back to work.
To Be Cont…..
Hi! I’m a Buffalo native but moved to Georgia to go to college and never returned. Now my whole family is here and we can’t bear to leave Atlanta’s climate but we do miss things about Buffalo. My brother is still a Sabres freak and subscribes to the NHL pass so that he can catch the games. I don’t follow it so much and we have a minor league team that we take our kids to so we’ve kinda (GASP)lost interest in real hockey. I’m like you though,I love to see the fights.
Would love for my boys to play though…way too expensive in Georgia since there aren’t many rinks.
Meatball subs….ahhhh….haven’t had one in years. We come to Buffalo once every three or four years to visit and eat nonstop. Beef on Weck, real pizza, wings, Antoinette’s chocolate, Friendly’s…..glad I’m here or my weight loss plan would be in serious trouble!
Welcome to the site and good luck reaching your goal. It’s nice that your honey is on board too. It’s always easier when both of you are trying. Keep in touch!

Sounds like you are doing great with your eating and glad you got hubby on board. My hubby gives up to easy. I hope that he will soon decide he wants to join me on this weight loss journey!
