New here - hoping to make at least 1 friend
Hi everyone. I found this site through a post on 3FC. Hoping to meet people here who share my desire to be fit through eating right and working out on a regular basis. I go the gym 4-5 days a week for at least 1 hour and workout at home on Saturdays. I am currently doing a C25K running program from Coolrunning.com. I really would like to be able to run at a 4.0 mph for 20-30, heck even 10 minutes straight would satisfy me for short term. I do the program Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday are Arc Trainer and Elliptical. I’m on week 4 of 9 of the running program. If I can get through the whole 9 weeks and run for 30 minutes at a 3.5 - 3.6 I can then gradually increase my speed. I like to do my weights at home because I like to use free weights and dumbells but don’t have the form down yet to embarass myself at the gym. The machines there are fine but I feel I get more out of using the free weights and dumbells.
I really don’t have anyone to talk to about weightloss, weight lifting, healthy foods, etc. because every one I known could really care less and some think I’m nuts because I measure and weigh everything. My fiance may be the only person who understands and doesn’t think I’m nuts because he’s now finally starting to jump on board and pay more attention to what, how much and the nutritional content of stuff he eats and had worked with one of the trainers at the gym to get him on a regimen and he’s been sticking with it and now that he’s finally below 270 I’m hoping it will motivate him more. I also think he might be getting a little worried because I have lost over 40 lbs in a year and am starting to “look good” and am moving out the plus size clothing and people are taking notice.
Well, I’ve rambled enough. I am usually online weekdays during the day while I’m at work. Don’t get home until 8 at nite so I eat dinner, clean up and basically go to bed around 10:30 -11:00.
Take care and have a good day everyone.

Welcome to Buddyslim! I hope you meet lots of great buddies. Sounds like you have a great program there. I started out walking and then moved up to running too and then started working on my speed and all during this time my weight was dropping at a great pace. I wish you the best of luck with the rest of your weight loss journey.
Welcome!
I know a few people here are doing the C25K. I’m planning on starting one day, but not quite yet, I want to lose a bit more first.
I like lifting though and am always happy to talk and swap tips about that.
If you’re concerned or embarrassed about form you can always see if a trainer will give you a one off session (sometimes they’ll do it for free and try and sell you more) and see if they correct you on it. That’s what I did. I just made sure I picked someone who I saw using the free weights with their clients a lot.
If you enjoy hitting the weights I really recommend it. I stuck with dumbbells for a while, but nothing feels quite as good as doing proper compound lifts with a barbell.
